How To Take Care Of Your New Honda Car

There is no better feeling than driving away from one of our Honda dealerships in a brand new Honda car. At Horizon Honda, we pride ourselves on making sure all our customers find the right vehicle to suit their needs. Once you’ve found your perfect new Honda, we want to help you take great care of it. At all our Horizon Honda dealerships we offer professional Honda maintenance and servicing. To help you make the most of your new Honda vehicle, we have compiled a list of top tips to keep your car in perfect condition.

Check your tire pressure and engine oil

For most new cars you shouldn’t have to worry about engine issues or oil leaks. However, it is advised to check, especially before a long journey. When checking your oil, it is important that you park your car on a level surface. This is so you get an accurate dipstick reading. Furthermore, you do not want to overfill your oil when you are topping up as this could leak and cause issues. If you do notice an oil leak, then be sure to book your car in for a Honda service.

If you have just purchased a new Honda car, make sure you regularly check your tire pressure. Under-inflated tires impact vehicle performance and fuel economy. When checking your tyre pressure, it is important that you are using an accurate pressure gauge. As recommended tyre pressure can differ depending on the manufacturers, make sure you are aware of the recommended inflation pressure for your new Honda. When inflating each tyre, you can check for any signs of wear or damage to your tyres that might warrant booking a Honda service.

Washing and detailing

Finally, you want to ensure your shiny new Honda car does not become covered in dirt and grit from the road. Keep your new Honda looking as good as it did the day it left the Honda dealership by washing and detailing a couple of times a month. Start by giving your car a rinse with a hose or pressure washer. This will get a lot of the surface dirt off; you can then follow up with some soapy water and a sponge. Once you’ve gone over the whole exterior of the car, give it a final rinse with the hose to avoid any soap marks. Finally, give the car a quick dry with a microfibre cloth or towel.

To clean the interior of your new Honda car, start with a handheld hoover to get rid of any dirt and crumbs that have collected in the footwells and centre console. Use a damp cloth to clean the dashboard and upholstery.

Other important checks

Keeping your car clean and taking good care of your tyres and engine oil is important, but there are other things to keep an eye on. It is important to check the battery, radiator, brakes and exhaust of your new Honda. As well as engine oil, there are a number of fluid levels to check under the hood including your transmission fluid, brake fluid and engine coolant.
